Allergies: You Don’t Have to Suffer

Many people with allergies think they are relegated to a life of sneezing, runny nose, watery eyes, itching, congestion, hay fever, asthma, frequent illness and all sorts of uncomfortable symptoms. What if you could increase your immunity, detoxify, and reduce your response to allergens? I have seen this many times in my practice! One patient with a lifetime history of allergies is amazed that she now hardly has any discomfort come allergy season. It only took a few treatments to boost her immune system and reduce her sensitivity.

Each person may need different natural supplements to heal the lymph system, thymus & spleen. In general mushrooms such as reishi & shitake and herbs such as echinacea, ginseng, & astragalus are helpful. Enzymes taken without food, such as bromelain, pancreatin 4x and 8x can help break down old protein toxins clogging the lymph system. I also use glandular extracts and homeopathy to support the body in healing. It’s imperative the detox organs such as liver, kidneys & spleen are functioning well so the body can heal.

A healthy diet of green veggies, lean meats, some fruit, non-glutinous starch such as quinoa, yams or rice is helpful. Avoid the problem foods: sugar, dairy, gluten, soy, and too many nuts, as these foods can clog the system.

Boost Your Immunity

Your immune system is a central command post that monitors the body’s health.  With the thymus as the immune “brain” and the spleen as the workhorse, specialized chemicals and a variety of cells seek out and neutralize toxins, microorganisms, allergens, and cellular wastes.  Lymphatic channels and nodes filter out and destroy debris.  Chronic immune imbalance can lead to autoimmune problems, implicated in thyroid disease, arthritis, diabetes and a host of other chronic conditions.

It is always best to keep your immunity and resistance to disease strong with healthy diet, exercise and appropriate supplements such as herb and mushrooms. However, bacteria and viruses thrive on acidity, intestinal toxins, congested lymphatics and irritated mucus membranes.  While it is important to eat a healthy diet, we all need nutrient support at times.  Cold and flu symptoms, such as fever, sore throat, cough, swollen glands, fatigue, and nasal congestion, can make life miserable and put us “under the weather” for days or weeks.  Prevent colds & flu, or cut them short by supporting your immune system with proper nutritional supplements.  If you have worked with me, or have come to one of my lectures, you know that systemic enzymes are crucial for detoxification and improving your immune system.

While traditional medicine may advocate vaccines, alternative medicine recognizes the need to strengthen the terrain (immune system and host resistance) so we are less susceptible to illness and pathogens.

Diet recommendations in include eating alkaline foods such as green vegetables, non-acidic fruits, minimizing sugar, alcohol, meat, GMOs; dairy, gluten, soy and peanuts.

Most of the time our bodies are too acidic from the Standard American Diet. Lifestyle techniques to reduce acidity or alkalize the body include deep breathing, rebound or trampoline to stimulate lymph glands, alternate hot/cold baths, dry brush, and reducing chronic stress. Any exercise is beneficial for the lymph system.
